Privacy policy

Last updated: November 8, 2026.

This policy explains what happens to information when you visit dogsexplained.com.

What we collect

We don't ask you to create an account, and we don't collect your name or email address unless you choose to send us a message.

Like most sites, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes basic technical data, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. The dog age calculator and the puppy checklist run entirely in your browser: what you type into it is not sent to us.

Photos you send us

If you send a photo or clip through Send us your dog, we receive it and what you type in the form (the name to credit, your dog's name and breed, and optionally where you're based, a short story, your Facebook or Instagram name and your email), plus the date and country of the submission as a record of your permission. We use it only to consider and feature your photo on the Dogs Explained Facebook page, Instagram and this site, credited to the name you gave. Your email is never published or shared. Ask us to take a photo down or delete your submission at any time by messaging the page or through the contact page.

Cookies and advertising

This site may show ads from Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info. Learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used.

Affiliate links

Some links go to Amazon with our affiliate tag. If you buy through them, Amazon may set cookies to credit the referral. Amazon's own privacy notice applies on their site.

Embedded content

Explainer pages may embed Reels from our Facebook page. Facebook may collect data when you view or play an embedded video, under Meta's privacy policy.
